Aims and Scope

Meet Our Editors

Dr. Donald Stull, PhD, Editor-in-Chief, offers his perspective: "My goal for this journal is to publish and encourage research that includes patient-reported and clinical outcomes that enhance our understanding of health, lead to improvements in medical care, and provide an evidence-based platform for making decisions about allocating scarce resources."
Olivier Chassany, MD, PhD, Associate Editor for Health Outcomes Research, is currently working as Medical leader of the Clinical Research and Development Department of Assistance Publique - Hopitaux de Paris. This Department is the institutional sponsor for all Parisian University Hospitals. Dr. Chassany is Professor in Medicine, teaching therapeutics, ethics, methodology of clinical research, and about patient-reported outcomes at the University Denis-Diderot Paris 7. A gastroenterologist by training, his research is focused on patient-reported outcomes. He has developed and validated several questionnaires in gastroenterology, pulmonary disease, HIV, and nutrition fields. He has been involved with the EU and US regulators in the elaboration and writing of regulatory guidances on patient-reported outcomes and health-related quality of life. John M. Kirkwood, MD, Associate Editor for Clinical Outcomes Research, has published extensively in translational medicine, focusing upon the molecular immunology and biology of melanoma and other refractory solid tumors. He is Professor of Medicine and Dermatology and Vice Chairman for Clinical Research in the Department of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Director of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Rachael Fleurence, PhD, Associate Editor for Health Policy and Comparative Effectiveness, has published extensively in comparative effectiveness research, mixed-treatment comparisons, cost-effectiveness analysis, and health technology assessment and is currently a Director for the US office of Oxford Outcomes, an ICON plc company.
